STUDIO
Atelier April is an interdisciplinary architecture and interior design firm based in New York City. Our portfolio includes high-end residential, commercial, cultural, and public projects.
We embrace new ideas and turn them into reality.
Beginning with ideas, we develop our work through empirical and experimental processes to realize our vision for society. This makes our design environment innovative and ever-evolving.
We believe collaboration is essential to the success of our creative process.
We develop concepts and designs for each project through an orchestration of all parties including clients, consultants, users, and community to engage with one another. Working together as a team, our creativity and imagination allow us to make meaningful contributions to our collective society.
APRIELLE CHUNG, RA & NCARB
FOUNDING PRINCIPAL
Aprielle believes that architecture should integrate the needs of individuals and communities alongside the architect’s own insight into a vision of humanity. Growing up in a family with a unique combination of inspiring leaders, creators, and healers cultivated her deep purpose of positive change and responsibility for the greater good of our society as an architect. Therefore, Aprielle’s approach to design is formed by a thoughtful curation of the designer’s concept and vision together with the users’ perception and spatial experience. Rather than designing based on preconceived ideas or styles, Aprielle seeks to achieve a unique identity and authenticity for each project.
Aprielle practiced in internationally renowned offices, including in Stararchitects’ design offices, executive architect’s office, and interior design office, to balance both design innovation and technical excellence of architecture and interior design. She has mostly worked in New York and Los Angeles in the United States as well as in Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan. These diverse experiences have enabled her to build a strong foundation to practice different project types, ranging from high-end residential, commercial, and cultural projects to public projects.
Aprielle received her Master of Architecture degree from Cornell University. She was also selected as the recipient of the Joint Japanese-Korean Government Scholarship to study architecture in Japan, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Prior to studying in Japan, she attended Yonsei University, the top private university in Korea.
Aprielle Chung is a registered architect in New York and New Jersey. She is certified by National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). She speaks English, Japanese, and Korean.
